Claims should be no stronger than the evidence supporting them.
Context Before Judgment
Events and decisions should be evaluated inside the conditions in which they occurred.
Accessible, Not Simplistic
Clear language should make complex subjects easier to enter without stripping away important distinctions.
Competing Perspectives Matter
Strong criticism should be tested against the strongest reasonable defense, and strong defenses should face the strongest evidence against them.
No Invented History
Historical narrative should not fabricate dialogue, motives, private thoughts, or certainty the record cannot support.
